20210803 Keelung Hospital Day Care Center restarts services

The Day Care Center of Keelung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare was confined to the severe COVID-19 epidemic. After the country was upgraded to a three-level alert on May 19, for the sake of elderly health and epidemic prevention, the service was suspended for nearly 2 months, and the service was relaunched with joy. Dean Lin Qingfeng today (8/3) together with Deputy Dean Luo Jingquan, Secretary Li Lingmei, and Director of Social Work Office Cai Shenghua went to the Rizhao Center to care about the rehabilitation of the elderly. The elderly were finally able to reunite with their "old friends" after having been absent for 2 months. Everyone is happy to go to class and activities together.

In view of the fact that Taiwan has entered an aging society and the number of long-term care needs has increased simultaneously, the government has continued to promote long-term care plans and related welfare policies. The Keelung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare actively cooperates with the government's long-term care policies for the welfare of the people and fulfills its social responsibilities, and assists in promoting and integrating the medical and long-term care system. The Sunshine Center of Keelung Hospital was officially inaugurated in 108. It takes care of the elderly with dementia and disability in the greater Keelung area, and provides high-quality, comprehensive and considerate care services such as day care and disability cognitive rehabilitation.

The director of Keelung Hospital of the Ministry of Health and Welfare Lin Qingfeng pointed out that the day care center is based on the existing foundation of Keelung Hospital, and cross-team integration and planning service models: including physicians, nurses, nutritionists, social workers and rehabilitation specialists, etc., to create safety for the elderly. And a comfortable care environment, supplemented by complete equipment and caring services, hopes to reduce the care pressure of family members.

The Sunshine Center of Keelung Hospital currently cares for 24 demented and disabled elderly people, and can serve up to 30 at the same time. The Rizhao Center provides holistic care and care, and designs multiple activities and rehabilitation programs to activate the physical and mental functions of the elderly, slow down the rate of deterioration, and create a warm and comfortable environment to make the elderly feel "home". Dean Lin Qingfeng also reminded the elderly to pay attention to epidemic prevention measures during the activities of the Rizhao Center, wear masks, maintain social distancing, and maintain good personal hygiene habits, so that everyone can be healthy and satiated together.
